In this historic Wellington home in a quirk of its rearrangement over the years the ensuite and the family bathrooms sit side by side, both seen from the hallway as you pass. It was important therefore to ensure a consistency with our palette of materials and colours - but it’s not in our design DNA to simply duplicate a room. Each space has its own character thanks to the contrasting vanity detailing and the playful wet area in the family bathroom where a shower over bath once resided. Our brief called for deep warm colours - nothing bright or stark. We responded to this with strong stone and timber choices, deep bronze hardware and bathroom fittings and that delicious natural terrazzo that picks up on the warm amber tones of the matai floor
